Keepin' Busy

Our maple season was a bit shorter than we would have liked but we've still been keeping busy! Here's a quick view of what our past month or so has looked like:

  • finished off our maple season (collected buckets, monitored sap lines, boiled down the sap to make our delicious syrup, cleaned all of the equipment, etc)

  • checked our current beehives to ensure they're healthy

  • set up new beehives for the nucs we're picking up next week

  • maintenance work on our new farm truck

  • checked our cultivated mushrooms (we're hoping they pop soon!)

  • spent some time planning out next year's maple season and our overall trajectory for the farm

  • traveled to Bascom Maple Farms in NH and Shaver-Hill Maple in Harpersfield to pick up new equipment/supplies for next year

  • developed new products to release this year. Check out the sneak preview we posted on Facebook the other day!

On the personal side we celebrated a few birthdays, kept up on homeschooling, and went to several events for our kids. All while keeping our three wild animals (ahem, I mean children) happy and thriving despite sickness and teething.

Overall, we're excited with how the business looks going forward. With the new bees we're adding to our collection along with the maple supplies we just purchased, expansion is just around the corner.
